Santa Clarita Activities Center Welcome Scientology – Foundation For A Drug-Free World

Deputy William Velek of the Santa Clarita Valley Station of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office will be presenting Scientology’s anti-drug materials to high school students at the Santa Clarita Activities Center starting on September 9th.

Empowering youth to combat substance abuse is a top priority for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. As part of a pilot program, Deputy William Velek of the Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) is launching a series of teen education classes that will teach youths in our community “The Truth About Drugs.”

“We can tell our kids not to use drugs, but that doesn’t work in high school anymore,” Deputy Bill Velek said. “If kids truly understand how dangerous drugs really are, then they would choose not to use them.”

Some of the topics covered in the ten-week program include: The Truth about Ecstasy, The Truth about Heroin, and The Truth about Crystal Meth and Methamphetamine. The final session will be a graduation class with the presentation of a certificate and the signing of a Youth Drug-Free World Pledge. The curriculum will be taught using a mixture of lectures, video presentations, group discussions, reading and short worksheets. The course was designed and published by
